Hi, I'm Landon
a Computer Engineering student at
the University of Alabama in Huntsville
First, a little about me
A brief overview of my background and journey
Late 2018 - Early 2019
My programming journey begins
My programming journey began in 2018 with my first project, a Roblox game, called 'Crazy Wars'. I always loved playing war/strategy games and I loved Roblox but I could never find exactly what I wanted, soooo I made my own. It was a simple and crude game but its where my journey begins.
Mid 2019
The successor
After I finished 'Crazy Wars', I wanted to make a more polished version using more assets that were made by me. And because of that, I started from scratch and created a more 'polished' version of the game using more assets and code that was written by me.
Late 2019
Obby Legends
At this point I was starting to love creating games so I started coming up with more original ideas and I created a game called 'Obby Legends'. The idea: Join a lobby and race to the end of the obby to win. Yes, it was simple but it taught me a lot about the importance of game design and systems programming.
Mid 2020
My passion takes flight
At this point I was starting to get more serious about my passion for creating and developing games. So I began my next project which I started because me and my friends were in need of a game to play, so I came up with 'Build Mania', with the goal being to simply.... drum roll... build. Simple? Yes. But this game taught me SO much about how to actually program instead of just copying and pasting, following tutorials, and using free assets. I learned how to make my own assets, how to make my own systems, and how to make my own game.
Late 2020
Time for war...
After 'Build Mania' I began a period of creating small simple systems just to grow my knowledge and understanding of development. And after that I had my next greatest hit, 'At War!', which was inspired by 'Rise of Nations' which was inspired by 'Hearts of Iron'. I gave this as the game description: 'is a war strategy game inspired by Rise Of Nations. Can you take the countries by storm? taking their cities and capturing the world! Call a summit (Global Metting) to discuss what's happing, Visit the war room, See what you control!'. Once again this game taught me something new, the importance of systems and how to build reliable programs that work under any circumstance, even though the game was very unreliable at times and had its problems.
Late 2021
Time to take a trip to Chile...
One day I was bored and found a group which loved to play a game that represented the city of Santiago, Chile. I loved the idea of this game so I offered to help them make it better and they agreed! I began work on this project and programmed banking, shops, a gun system, jailing, jobs, and so much more. However, this didnt not come easy. This was my first big project and it came with a lot of challenges and problems. I learned a lot about how to work with other people, how to manage a project, and how to make a game that is fun and engaging for players while also actually being reliable and performant. About two years later I decided to leave this project due to a lack of time and interest in the project, but I learned a lot from this project and it was a great experience.
Early 2022-Early 2023
Time to explore the world wide web...
At this time I began my journey into web development. I worked on many websites including a portfolio (not this one!) and a projects like a chat app, minigames, and a few prototype social platforms. I learned a lot about web development and how to make projects that focused on the user experience and ease of use. I also learned how to make projects that were secure and handled sensitive user data.
Late 2024
Its time to study...
My first big project (thats still in development!) is indxo.app. A quizlet inspired web applications that allows users to create and share flashcards. This projects has taught me a LOT about security, performance, maintainability, and scalability. I have learned how to make a project that is written in a way to be maintainable and extensible. This is by far my largest and longest (in terms of development time) project that Ive ever worked on.
Thats just the surface...
As with every person there is so much more that has happened in my life that has made me, me. So if you want to hear more about my story, feel free to contact me!
What have I done?
Here’s a look at various personal and collaborative projects that showcase my skills and passion for development. I primarily write in C++, TypeScript (JS), Python, Java, and Luau, and I rely on tech like Node.js, Svelte, CMake, and Visual Studio to bring these ideas to life.
